About Me

From the moment I decided to become an architect at the young age of seven, my journey has woven through a series of unique and enriching experiences that have shaped and deepened both my dedication to and understanding of architecture. My early fascination with science and mathematics during my high school years laid a solid foundation for my future studies. However, it was my struggle and perseverance in mastering languages that gave my journey an unexpected turn. This challenge led me to various international schools, including Newbury Hall School, St Clare’s in Oxford, the English Language Centre Bristol, and Alliance Française de Rouen in Normandy, where I honed my language skills and gathered a wealth of international experiences.

By stepping out of my comfort zone, these experiences not only enriched my language abilities but also broadened my understanding of different cultures and architectural impressions. They left an indelible mark on my design vision and taught me to appreciate the value of diversity and the influence of culture on architecture.

After high school, I decided to further explore my passion by taking a ‘Short Course in Interior Design’ at the Marangoni Institute in Milan, followed by volunteer work in Nepal with Raleigh International. Both experiences further shaped my vision of architecture and my role within it. In September 2019, I enthusiastically began my architectural studies at Hasselt University. After three intense but incredibly fascinating years, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Architecture with high distinction. With great eagerness, I continued my master’s studies at UHasselt.

A summer internship in 2023 at RE-ST in Antwerp strengthened my love for architecture and confirmed that this field is my true passion. The opportunity to apply theory in practice and receive direct feedback from seasoned professionals was invaluable.

In 2024, a second summer internship at Studio Base in Valencia-Moraira gave new depth to my fascination with building culture. Here, I discovered how architecture reflects and translates local traditions and history. This experience taught me to approach architecture from a different perspective and fueled my desire to keep uncovering the stories hidden within buildings.

During my master’s years, my passion for heritage and the significance of collective memory within communities grew. The power and knowledge of history continue to intrigue me. How can we treat existing patrimony with respect? How do we translate the past into the present? How do we continue writing a story that is so rich in history? These questions challenge and inspire me time and time again.

The choice of Genius Loci as my seminar theme was therefore a natural one. The idea that every place has a unique spirit and tells a story that must be carefully continued touches the core of my architectural vision. I want to keep building on what makes me dream, because it is more than a choice: it is my passion and my calling.
